Building a Strong Foundation for Christ

13 Then little children were being brought to him in order that he might lay his hands on them and pray. …. 14Jesus said, “Let the little children come to me, and do not stop them; for it is to such as these that the kingdom of heaven belongs.” 15 And he laid his hands on them and went on his way.

PARENTS’ DAY OUT

JAM Parents’ Day Out The Jesus and Me (JAM) Parents’ Day Out is a ministry of Etna United Methodist Church and is a support system to parents and other caregivers in the Etna, Pataskala, Pickerington, Reynoldsburg, Baltimore and other nearby communities.

The program gives stay-at-home parents and others caregivers a much-needed day for themselves. Children ages 6 months through age 5 are exposed to a Christian curriculum, socialization and lots of fun – including play time, crafts, music, Bible stories, special visitors and large motor skills. By the way, we’re nut free, because we recognize the dangers of this allergy.

JAM Parents’ Day Out is held on Thursdays from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. September through May, and follows the Southwest Licking School District’s schedule. Our caregivers are Christians, first aid and CPR trained, experienced, and background checked.

Fee Schedule There is a $35 registration fee per child. This fee is non-refundable and secures a place for your child in the program. The cost is $85 per month for one child; $75 per child for two children; and $66 per child for three children. Your first payment will be due on the first day of Parents’ Day Out in September. At the end of the summer, we will mail all registered families a calendar and the paperwork needed to begin in the fall.

How Do I Register? Call Etna UMC at 740-927-4554 or email jampdo@etnaumc.org for more information.

UPWARD SPORTS

Etna United Methodist Church is excited to be affiliated with the National Upward Sports Organization and Pataskala Church of the Nazarene providing a local league for the youth of Pataskala and the surrounding areas to participate in the Upward Basketball season to young athletes from ages 4 through eight grade.

Upward Sports, the world’s largest Christian sports league for children, provides a fun kid’s sport experience based on healthy competition. In 2010, more than 550,000 K4 through eighth-grade kids had a great basketball, soccer, flag football or cheer leading experience through one of the 2,400 leagues or camps.

Register on-line here. www.upwardsports.com Games are exciting and each weekend is full of fun, devotions, and tons of energy! So bring the whole family and even friends to watch these young athletes.

Concessions are available at both locations with candy, chips, drinks, and even pulled chicken sandwiches! (The concession stand at PCN now accepts Visa, MasterCard, Discover, and PayPal Here on your smartphone!)

Both Upward seasons culminate with an awards banquet where the teams and the individual athletes are recognized for their participation. There is no “league champion” as everyone that participates wins. And every child walks away with something to remind them of their experience and the things they learned during the season.

Thinking about how you might be able to get involved? Volunteers are ALWAYS needed. Before the season we need coaches, helpers, and support staff. During the season we also need volunteers to help with devotions and concessions. If you would be interested, please contact the church office (740-927-4554) and we will get you connected to the proper people.

For more information on the National Upward you can access the coaching portal where you can find practice schedules, devotions, tips, and other resources to help you coach a successful season. That site is https://www.myupward.org
